Alexandra Thornton is based in Leeds, England and is a former Archaeological Consultant turned coach and leadership expert. Despite her former job being what appears to be one of the coolest in the world – managing archaeological excavations, well-paid, mentoring, working with a large array of corporate clients – she found herself lost, unmotivated and miserable. She did what most would do at this point and researched her options, but nothing seemed to light her up, leaving Alex feeling like she was stuck between a rock and a hard place. Her intuition was kicking in immensely at this point and she knew she couldn’t give up, so she asked for further guidance and ended up meeting a career coach. She received a Big Yes in her body when she was offered the chance to work with this coach and it started her off on an epic new journey in her life, comprising transformation, regaining hope, inspiration, love for herself and gratitude. Halfway through the coaching, she had another Big Yes from her intuition and decided to hand in her notice at work and set up her own business as a coach herself. Beyond this, she listened in again to her intuition and took on the role of Head of Consultancy for a Leadership and Management consultancy. Here she uses all her consultancy and coaching skills to lead a business which specialises in helping senior leaders have the mindset, behaviours and communication strategies to be extraordinary leaders.
Alex now helps as many people as she can to reconnect with themselves, embrace, hone and utilise their own intuition, build their confidence, find their voice, figure out what they really want in life, change/transform their career and their life in general, learn to fully accept themselves for who they are, act on their intuition to follow their own dreams, and be the best leader they can be. All of which is to ensure that they lead, and live, a more fulfilled, exciting and joyful version of the life of their wildest dreams.
Alex has been writing since she was a child and has always had a knack for it. At school, stories flowed from her, at university, essays were a joy, and at work, scientific reports in her career were crafted pieces of work honed to take the reader from the hypothesis to the conclusion in a non-patronising, efficient and interesting way. Some of her favourites were the reports she wrote on human skeletal populations whilst running her own business as an osteologist.
Although her scientific side dominated her career for many years, her spirituality has always shone through and she has been an ardent researcher of intuition since she was a teenager. She credits her mum for opening her eyes to trusting her intuition when she was very young. Her mum would always say ‘trust your gut’ and was very often correct when it came to judging situations and what to do. Alex’s father also had his own way of trusting his gut, and she acknowledges his influence in this book as well.
